We Are Instrumental Awarded $50,000
We Are Instrumental (WAI) has been awarded a $50,000 Sharing In The Groove Grant from the Zankel Music Fund, distributed over the next three years, to support the procurement of new and refurbished musical instruments for students throughout Northern New York.

The investment will help WAI continue addressing one of the region’s greatest barriers to music education: access to reliable, high-quality instruments. Through partnerships with school districts across the Adirondacks and North Country, WAI will purchase, refurbish, and place instruments directly into the hands of students who otherwise may not have the opportunity to participate in their school music programs.
Since its founding, We Are Instrumental has worked to strengthen music education by providing instruments, free private lessons, enrichment opportunities, and professional development for music educators. To date,
WAI has provided more than 750 new and refurbished instruments to schools across Northern New York, representing over $700,000 in restored musical assets and helping hundreds of students participate in school music programs.

Adirondack Rail Trail Named to Outside Magazine’s 2026 U.S. Bucket List Adventures
The Adirondack Rail Trail has been selected by Outside Magazine as one of its 2026 U.S. Bucket List Adventures, placing the trail among the nation’s premier outdoor destinations and experiences.
The recognition highlights the Adirondack Rail Trail’s rapid emergence as one of New York State’s most popular outdoor recreation assets. Stretching 34 miles between Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and Tupper Lake, the multi-use trail offers year-round opportunities for walking, biking, running, birding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing while connecting communities and showcasing the beauty of the Adirondack Park.
The feature introduces the trail to Outside Magazine’s extensive audience, which includes approximately 6.8 million readers and 28 million social media followers. “Being selected as one of Outside Magazine’s 2026 U.S. Bucket List Adventures is an incredible honor,” said Julia Goren, Executive Director of the Adirondack Rail Trail Association (ARTA). “This recognition affirms what our communities, volunteers, partners, and trail users have known all along—that the Adirondack Rail Trail offers a truly unique outdoor experience. The selection comes as trail use continues to grow. Since July 13, 2025, trail counters installed along the Adirondack Rail Trail have recorded more than 182,600 passes, demonstrating the trail’s popularity among residents and visitors alike.
Recognition also underscores the trail’s economic impact on surrounding communities. Businesses throughout Lake Placid, Ray Brook, Saranac Lake, Lake Clear, and Tupper Lake are benefiting from increased visitation as trail users explore local restaurants, lodging establishments, retail shops, and attractions.

This high-energy performance blends Australian music, culture, comedy, storytelling, character-building, and audience participation into an interactive experience for all ages.
