Beatrice Bardin: Painter, printer, Sculptor & Book Maker
August 31 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Born in France, Béatrice Bardin came to live in New York by way of Chile. For many years she designed and executed floral decorations for public and private events in New York City. She conducted workshops in fresh and dry flower arrangements in schools and other venues. All the while she supported her family working on Wall Street in international finance. She then switched to painting full time.
She came to the National Academy of Design in 1993 to study painting and print making. She learned stone lithography at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Memeber Workshop. Now a full time painter and print maker she works in Keene Valley, NY, and New York City.
Her love of color and light guides her in watercolor or printing. Her paintings are large and mostly abstract based on plein air sketches and drawings from nature. When printing she experiments with varied print making techniques and with water soluble inks on many different papers exploring the many moods of the image.
In her newest work Beatrice Bardin explores the unique, one of a kind, artist book format to present images and texts in prints.
Her art is present in many private collections in the United States, France and around the world.
