Brian Dewan in concert
November 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$15.00
Brian Dewan will perform songs, both original and found, on autoharp and accordion. The found music includes folk music from the forgotten corners of history, hymns, and popular music from bygone eras, as well as an occasional rock song. Dewan’s own lyrics are by turns humorous, philosophical, and solemn. His historical song repertoire often betrays a post-modern irony in the re-telling.
Dewan’s collaborators include They Might be Giants, David Byrne, and the Raymond Scott Orchestrette. He wrote music for the original incarnation of the Blue Man Group, still currently being performed. Brian and Leon Dewan have created a family of original analog-synthesizers called Dewanatron. Customers of Dewanatron instruments have included Trent Reznor, Mark Mothersbaugh, Alicia Keys, Tom Waits, and Jean-Michel Jarre.
Dewan’s I-CAN-SEE filmstrips have been screened at The Whitney Museum Of American Art, The New Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, The Tang Museum, Modern Art Oxford and The Museum Of Jurassic Technology. All of the images in the filmstrips are original ink and watercolor paintings or ink and marker drawings.
Sunday, November 5th, 1-3pm, Dewan will also be performing an electronic music set with Claude & Ola at the Station in Onchiota.
