Five Conversations: Nina Schoch and Andrea Barrett

The Fall Lyceum presents a five-week series of conversations that will dig deep into topics of concern and significance for the region. Dr.

Nina Schoch and Andrea Barrett will discuss the scientific and cultural significance of loons in the Adirondacks, the work of the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation, what leads people into working with wildlife, and, among other things, their shared love for educating others about the natural world.

Wildlife veterinarian and biologist Dr. Nina Schoch is Executive Director of the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation and has been studying loons in the Adirondacks since 1998. A licensed wildlife rehabiitator, she’s received numerous awards for her work. Fiction writer Andrea Barrett often explores the lives of 19th- and 20th-century naturalists and educators in her stories and novels, most recently in the collection “Natural History”.
