Friday Night Talks With Adam Nestor

September 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

September guest Adam Nestor will talk about his two books, Bow Drill and the recently published Bushcraft Topics. Bushcraft involves using the environment around you to make yourself more comfortable and to survive if necessary. Adam will demonstrate some multi-use gear that is discussed in the book to give attendees a better understanding of its value in the outdoors. Nestor will lead a safe, controlled fire-starting demonstration using a bow drill.

Adam Nestor’s fascination with the outdoors began in his childhood. He started his first bow drill fire in 1997 under the instruction of Christopher Nyerges in southern California. Since then, he started thousands of fires and recorded them in his journal. This experience was transformed into the book: BowDrill. It is available on Amazon and has sold in 6 countries. His “Multi-stick Fireboard” article was published in the Backwoodsman magazine. The United States Marine Corps infantry trained him in different environments in multiple countries. Later, he was trained by Mors Kochanski and Kelly Harlton at the week-long summer and winter courses offered by Karamat Wilderness Ways in Alberta, Canada. He honed his skills with rigorous training in the Pennsylvania wilds. He knows the outdoors can humble you quickly so he continues to train and work on innovative strategies for spending time in the outdoors. He lives with his wife in upstate New York with the Adirondacks practically in his backyard. Over the years, he taught scouts, college students, campers, women’s groups, and numerous individuals.
