In the Beginning was Unknown: Kailey Maher
July 3 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

In the beginning was unknown.
Not emptiness, but threshold. A condition of becoming. What is sensed before it fully enters form.
What presses against the surface of things long before it can be named.
Stone, fiber, ceramic, image, shadow. Forms shaped through pressure, suspension, repetition, fracture, and return. The works move between weight and lift, grounding and release, erosion and emergence. Surfaces retain the memory of contact. Pressure alters form without erasing what came before.
Again and again, the work returns to what is carried — within the body, within landscape, within material itself. Geological time. Emotional residue. Inheritance. What remains embedded beneath the visible surface. Nothing here arrives singular or untouched.
Light moves through the work as material does: revealing edges, tension, density, and passage.
Meaning does not settle in one fixed place. It gathers slowly through relation, atmosphere, and sustained attention.
The exhibition remains within a state of unknowning — where becoming is continuous, wheretransformation remains incomplete, Where what is held begins pressing toward visibility through form and light.
Where earth and body remember.
What is held, becoming, visible through form and light.
Where what weighs, at times, gives wings.
In the Beginning Was Unknown
In unknowning.
Not unseen, but foreseen.
Where pressure alters form without erasing what came before.
Where earth and body remember.
What is held, becoming, visible through form and light.
Where what weighs, at times, gives wings.
