Julie Canepa talk – From Concept to Finished Product: Tips for Realizing Your Passion Project
October 15 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

“From the initial spark of inspiration to the final creation, every artistic endeavor, be it art, music, literature, or film, follows a unique path. There are no hard and fast rules. There are no roadmaps. But there is wisdom to be shared by people who have achieved their goals. As a writer, I have relied on books like The Art of Memoir by Mary Carr, Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg and Still Writing by Dani Shapiro. I have been so grateful to have their books by my side to keep me sane, help me stay the course and remind me that doubt and dry spells can be normal.
I don’t claim to have all the answers to guide you on your creative journey. I can’t unleash your creativity. Only you can do that. But I can tell you what I learned on my journey from the spark of an idea to a finish line that was beyond my wildest dreams.
I would love to share a few things I have learned along the way. If they resonate with you and provide you with even a modicum of support, then that’s another wildest dream achieved for me. Here are a few thoughts:
Have an idea you are passionate about? Read about how others did the thing you want to do. It’s inspiring and informative. Surround yourself with the right people. Be flexible. Leave time to let things percolate. Beware of, and banish, Imposter Syndrome. Finish.. Be proud and move forward.”
