‘Owls & Other Whimsies’

NorthWind Fine Arts Gallery is featuring the work of member artist Shawn Halperin during the month of June. Her new collection of work ‘Owls & Other Whimsies’ will be showcased in the gallery June 1-30, 2023.
‘I worked all winter on this collection. There is a variety of mediums including carved spalted yellow birch owls, oil painted night scenes and mixed media combinations depicting loons, owls and birds.
My favorite pieces that came out of this body of work are ‘StarKeeper’ and ‘Spring Beauties’. StarKeeper was created working along with Poet Sylvia Karman during the ‘Poetry Meets Art’ collaboration this past April. ‘Spring Beauties’ is a mixed media piece using felt, bark and embroidery. It is a Fawn with a Trout Lily Flower.
