When Men and Mountains Meet

August 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Speaker Glenn Pearsall, author and historian, presented by the Wilmington Historical Society.

In the presentation based on his book When Men and Mountains Meet, Mr. Pearsall includes extensive research on the earliest attempts to explore and develop the Adirondacks after the American Revolution. It is, ultimately, the story of a people and their relationship to the land. The earliest carried a tomahawk or musket, but after the American Revolution a new kind of people, settlers and businessmen, came here. Many of these efforts began with great hope and optimism. Most ended in despair and disappointment. Refreshments provided by Up-A-Creek Restaurant. Free and open to the public.
